This real wedding by the sea was photographed by Devon based wedding photographer Rosie Anderson.
Cat and Stu, who were married in September 2014 wanted “a cosy intimate wedding with close friends, who could enjoy a whole weekend by the sea”. And they picked well by choosing to host their wedding at the Woolacombe Bay Hotel.
I’m a big fan of a wedding weekend. I remember the day after my wedding, despite the excitement of sitting in a taxi making our way to the airport for our minimoon, there was a feeling that we were leaving the party behind. The day after the wedding is a time to reflect on the brilliance of the day that saw you get married, and if you can do that with the friends and family that helped to make the day so special, even better.
The bride and groom of this real wedding opted for the stunning art deco influenced hotel, Woolacombe Bay Hotel, within reach of some of Devon’s famous beaches. A little out of season, September is possibly the most perfect time for a seaside wedding, the crowds have died down and there’s something quite magical about Devon (and Cornwall for that matter) in late summer and early autumn.
Holding the reception on the lawn of the hotel, Cat and Stu treated their guest to the sea air and spectacular views on offer. I love it that the bride and groom embraced the settings in this way but what also impressed me was the way in which the couple referenced their closeness to the sea with some of the wedding styling, like the little handmade paper boat place settings.
Everything about this wedding was well though out and lovingly crafted from the beautiful flowers, to Cat’s beautiful Tea Dress style wedding dress.
