To do list

You’ve just got engaged, eek – exciting! Now you need to start planning a wedding, eek – daunting!

Wedding planning is exciting and daunting in equal measure but the process of getting married is easier than you think. It all comes down to organisation and making a list of what to do and when to do it. The longer you leave that to do list blank the more stressful you will find planning your wedding.

Once you’ve booked wedding suppliers they will usually take control by telling you what to do next and when you need to do it. For example, upon buying your wedding dress you will probably be booked in for a fitting. The challenge is taking that all-important first step. To help you along the way, Off To Wed has drafted a wedding checklist below to guide you through the process of getting married.

Once you’re engaged

  • Make a budget
  • Make a rough list of who you’d like to invite
  • Decide who you want to be your bridesmaids, best man/men and ushers, then ask them
  • Shortlist a few dates and check ‘em with the friends and family you really, really, really want at your wedding
  • Book your venue
  • Invest in wedding insurance
  • Announce the date. If your wedding is more than a year in advance then don’t worry about save the date cards yet but do let people know
  • Start creating some Pinterest boards

1 year before the wedding

Time to start booking things now. 12 months might seem like a long time but there are certain things that you will need to compete for.
