A band that I saw at a couple of weddings last year was The Zu Zu Men. Oh boy what a band! So here’s a blog post to wax lyrical about how good they are.
I bang the same drum time and again about cheesy wedding suppliers, but it’s such a problem in the wedding industry. There are so many shitty suppliers that don’t try hard enough to make your wedding special. Wedding music and entertainment is no exception, from dreadful DJs talking over the records, living an imagined life as a star of the airwaves on one hand – to truly naff wedding bands and singers belting out poor imitations of the same old songs on the other.
But there’s always a flip side. If you look hard enough you’ll invariably find something good amongst the mediocrity. That’s the Zu Zu Men, a band that’s entertaining, sound great and get stuck into what they’re doing, standing out as a band that not only would you like to play your wedding but you’d also happily see them play out. These guys are obviously passionate about music because they’ve created a really interesting sound. They’ve got a cool style with their dandy hats but they’re not too cool, you know what I mean, they don’t seem to fancy themselves. When guests decide to throw requests at the Zu Zu Men they’ll give it a go and have fun engaging with the audience as they take requests and talk to the wedding party.
Having seen the Zu Zu Men perform at the zen wedding setting of the Matara Centre in the Cotswolds and at the pristine Priston Mill near Bath I can definitely give this band the Off To Wed seal of approval, double thumbs up, or five stars. They really are worth checking out if you’re looking for a band to play your wedding. A band that are going to ‘get the party started’ – when I saw them the bride, groom and guests got well and truly into the spirit of things.
