So here we are heading full steam towards festival season with Off To Wed’s festival of choice is still to come – Bestival. Inspired by Rosa Sherwood from Wild About Flowers, Off to Wed will be publishing a series of articles about festival weddings. The next article will share Rosa’s thoughts on flowers for the festival wedding.
I was so excited when I read the (forthcoming) blog post from Wild About Flowers; it was a refreshing change from reading about another vintage wedding. Not that there is anything wrong with vintage but it seems that today’s weddings are either standard or vintage.
Look around people, there are style inspirations everywhere when wedding planning and in the middle of this blazing summer, festivals are so hot right now! Take a chance and book an outdoor wedding, festival stylee. You won’t have to dress like your granny, you won’t be stuck inside on a hot day and you can make as much noise as you like.
Just think about how much fun you can have creating a festival wedding; you can invite as many people as you like and save a load of hassle on the formalities. Get rid of the clink, clink fine dining experience, replacing it with a fire pit and a barbecue, it’s not every day that you see a spit roast at a wedding, right?
And if you are worried that it might rain then hire a tipi, buy some wellies and relax as you listen to the bands, that’s right bands, plural- don’t just hire one band have two or three that will play the music throughout the day, just like real festival innit.
Apart from the fun bits like fireworks and confetti canons, there are a few details to think about such as portable toilets, good ones – it’s one thing for the boys to go in the bushes but I’m sure the mother of the bride doesn’t want to carry a ‘she-pee’ in her clutch bag.
If you do want some inspiration on how to plan the perfect festival wedding, keep your eye on Off To Wed over the next few weeks. We will be giving you some hints and tips on creating the perfect festival wedding starting with Rosa Sherwood’s wedding flowers and floral headbands. Alternatively you could just visit an actual festival. Don’t waste your time with any old so-called festival/party in a field, check out Bestival on the 4 – 7 September on the Isle of Wight which will be featuring the likes of Outkast, Foals and Laura Mvula. You never know you might even decide Bestival is the place to spend your minimoon.Bestival for allowing us to use the images from their awesome festival
